Raven Slingshot FAQs and Data Sheets

On my farm, I don't have good cell reception, will Slingshot still work?
Yes. Slingshot's internet connectivity is based on data transfer not voice transfer like a call on a cell phone. In general, voice requires 6 times the signal strength of data.

How reliable can it be?... It's brand new. Is it even proven?
Yes, it is proven. The idea of using cell phone signals for RTK correction has been in use in Canada for over a year. In fact, Raven Industries now owns the company, Ranchview, Inc.,  that pioneered the technology in the Canadian Western Provinces.

How much does it cost?
Slingshot is the most affordable RTK correction on the market and offers so much more value for the dollar - such as wireless high speed internet access, real-time access to support via the web and more. Pricing and final configurations are dependent on your existing hardware configurations and ultimately your individual needs, but here is a sample pricing example:

How does the pass to pass and repeatability of Slingshot RTK compare to typical GPS correction?

Is there a line of sight limitation?
No. There is no line of sight limitation. This is because Slingshot RTK uses cell phone technology. So, just as you don’t need line of sight to be on your cell phone, you don’t need line of sight to the base station with Slingshot.

How does Slingshot store my data and how quickly can I access it after I’m done working?
Slingshot stores your data, like prescription maps, in a secure online database that can be accessed in real time from anywhere as long as you have an internet connection.

How does the cell provider in my area get me a subscription?
Depending on your area, your local cell phone provider will sell you a data plan. The data plans are really no different that types of data packages required for access to the internet or email via a cell phone.

Is Slingshot compatible with the CORS network?
Yes. But, in many areas, the CORS network is incomplete and to date, municipalities and other government entities receive preferential treatment for access. For example, if a team of Department of Transportation surveyors are out in your area, you may not be able to use the network.

How does the real-time troubleshooting actually work?
Since Slingshot works with the Windows XP operating system, the Remote Desktop Connection works as well. So an ET Slingshot Tech can remotely get into your system as needed – you literally never have to leave your cab or touch a thing.

Is my current precision-ag hardware configuration compatible with Slingshot?
Slingshot is compatible with the vast majority of precision-ag components on the market today. But, pricing and final configurations are dependent on your existing hardware configurations and ultimately your individual needs.

How do I buy access?
As one of Raven Industries' largest resellers of precision-ag equipment, Equipment Technologies has been quick to jump out in front of Slingshot RTK. With enough base stations to canvas all of Indiana and Ohio, we hope to be your go-to resource for Raven Slingshot.
