Applying Trends: The official e-newsletter of Equipment Technologies, home of the Apache sprayer.
Welcome to the first edition of Applying Trends, the quarterly e-newsletter of Equipment Technologies, home of the Apache sprayer.

By now, we hope your harvest is finally drawing to a close. There is no doubt that the length of this year's harvest will set records. In fact, the USDA recently reported that the major corn states had managed to harvest just 37% of that crop compared with 82% on average by the date of November 22nd of the past five years. One thing's for sure, the usual three to four months growers typically have to plan new equipment purchases, maintenance and upgrades has dramatically shrunk. But, as Thomas Jefferson appropriately said, "Everything comes to him who hustles while he waits."

To that point, our U.S. subscribers need to be aware that there has been no law passed to provide for bonus depreciation in 2010. Section 179 depreciation is scheduled to drop back down to $128,000 from $250,000 on January 1, 2010. So, if you've haven't taken advantage of this excellent tax incentive, we encourage you to talk to your Apache dealer or tax advisor. You may also find additional information here on the IRS's website.

It is our sincere hope that this e-newsletter and subsequent editions of Applying Trends will serve as a timely resource for your spraying needs.

Did you know Equipment Technologies has developed a cost of ownership model?

It's easier than any other such analysis you've ever seen. It takes into consideration virtually all the variables of your operation related to spraying. We encourage you to use it annually to ensure you not only made the right decision to own a self-propelled sprayer (Apache of course), but also to project how profitable that decision is year after year.

Covey's Corner

All things parts & service

With winter fast approaching and harvest finally coming to an end, it is time to start thinking about winterizing your Apache Sprayer. Here are some tips to help ensure your spring spraying starts smoothly:

Don't forget the often overlooked service items such as:

    > The hydraulic return filter

    > Rear axle oil (in fact it's a good idea to grease every point on the machine)

    > Engine air filters, and

    > The most important filters on the sprayer: the cab filters.

You can order replacement filters from your dealer under part number K65000066 this gets you both filters for any 2005 and newer Apache model.
