Service Manager

Our Service Manager will be the local person in charge of field and in shop service work at an Equipment Technologies (ET’s) company owned dealership located in Batesville, MS. This is a working supervisor’s position that includes a wide range of duties that relate to customer service and support, inventory maintenance, service scheduling, facility and asset maintenance and more. The ideal employee will have the heart of a customer service representative, the mind of a service technician and the ability to lead a small staff that will exceed customers’ expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Follow the “ET Business Principles” every day. Challenge those who do not.
  2. Attend to the needs of our customers to ensure customer satisfaction while keeping company interests in mind.
  3. Help develop and maintain a local company culture that reflects our corporate culture: showing respect for employees and customers, striving for excellence, taking pride in our work and having fun.
  4. Serve as the primary phone support for customers in our geographic territory to trouble shoot via the phone, answer operational questions and schedule field or shop technicians as needed to keep customers equipment operating at an optimal level.
  5. Accurately maintain inventory by personally following company procedures for inventory relief and inventory movement tracking. Additionally, ensure that all direct reports follow the established procedures.
  6. Accurately create, distribute and maintain records that include customer invoices, internal related charges and warranty related charges. This will include our parts and labor as well as sublet parts and labor.
  7. Provide daily shop and field service prioritization, scheduling and dispatch.
  8. Provide day to day supervision of direct reports relating to working hours, record keeping, minor HR related matters and more. Serve as a liaison to the Operations Supervisor and corporate HR regarding these duties.
  9. Monitor and track expenses for direct reports.
  10. Schedule staff including self in a balanced manner to effectively cover store hours and customer needs.
  11. Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and upkeep of company owned and leased assets and facilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  2. Must be honest and trustworthy.
  3. Must be able to lead from the front, by words and by actions.
  4. Must be able to successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize and drive results.
  5. Must be computer literate with general Microsoft Office applications and a willingness and ability to learn the needed functions of our business software.
  6. Must possess the ability to constructively work with fellow employees, customers, and vendors.

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Expected Hours of Work

  • Our store hours are 7:30 – 5:30 M – F and seasonally 7:30 – 12 noon on Saturdays. There will be times during application season that the needs of the company will extend beyond our normal store hours. In addition, this position requires a considerable amount of after-hours phone support during our peak season. The Service Manager is expected to be flexible and adapt to the needs of our customers and the company. Efforts will be made to use technology and load sharing when able to reduce the burden on any one person, however, this position will remain the primary point of contact for after hours service support.


  • It is expected that some very limited day trips and overnight travel will be necessary. The reasons for this could be customer support, training, trade shows and more. It is not expected that overnight travel would impact more than 1-2 weeks total per year.

Work Environment

  • The work environment will be varied and dependent upon the day to day needs of the business. The environment will include being in a seated position in an office environment, standing on the shop floor, standing outside in a variety of weather conditions exposed to cold, heat, rain, sun and more. At times the work may be physically demanding requiring the lifting of parts exceeding 50 lbs. or standing for extended periods.
