Product Design/Development Engineer

 

Equipment Technologies Inc. is seeking a Product Design/Development Engineer to lead engineering efforts that may include new design, improvements to existing designs, prototype development and testing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create new designs and/or generate design change solutions using advanced CAD/CAM tools to improve value (cost, quality and performance)
  • Perform necessary structural and other analysis to find an optimal solution.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews and document the design solution
  • Generate models/drawings for engineering changes, Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Follow engineering change request (ECR) process when necessary.
  • Create project schedules and achieve deliverables within budget and on time.
  • Participate in hands-on building of prototypes before hand-off to production.
  • Define necessary validation test plans and execute using in-house resources and where necessary at external test houses.
  • Work in an inter-disciplinary team environment working with purchasing, manufacturing, service departments and with suppliers.
  • Mentor junior employees and interns.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be self-motivated and passionate to develop innovative engineering solutions.
  • Must have experience in a major 3D CAD/solid modeling/design suites such as Solid Edge, PTC Creo, AutoCAD, SolidWorks and finite element analysis suites such as FEMAP, ANSYS etc.
  • Working knowledge of part print interpretation, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to be an effective team player
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with product development processes.
  • Proficiency with problem identification and resolution.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%.

Educational Requirements:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Technology or closely related field
